Madison Olivas joined the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in March 2024 with a clear goal: to connect with other women in the industry and find mentorship and community. Since then, her involvement has been transformative, boosting her professional growth and confidence.
In February 2025, Madison began her role at Neal Electric as a Project Engineer, bringing the same passion for collaboration and leadership that defines her work with NAWIC. As Chair of the Ways & Means Committee, she leads fundraising efforts that support scholarships and chapter events. Her responsibilities include working with sponsors, planning creative initiatives, and ensuring financial goals are met through teamwork and innovation.
For Madison, Women in Construction (WIC) Week is a highlight of the year—a time to celebrate achievements, share stories, and inspire others. One of her proudest moments was organizing a WIC Week panel featuring women from diverse trades and roles. The turnout and engagement were incredible, reinforcing the importance of creating spaces for dialogue and empowerment.
Balancing committee responsibilities with her role at Neal Electric takes planning, but Madison sees her NAWIC involvement as an asset. As she explains, “You truly get what you give—our members do this as a labor of love, and the quality of what you gain from NAWIC is extraordinary.”
Her advice for anyone considering joining NAWIC or stepping into leadership is simple: go for it. You don’t need all the answers—just a willingness to learn and contribute. Leadership within NAWIC offers an incredible opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
